Dehydration Skid

ARA designed, constructed, programmed and commissioned a dehydration skid with a Victorian based customer for the oil & gas industry in South Australia.

A new process known as enhanced oil recovery (EOR) where raw unprocessed gas is compressed and reinjected into oil fields where previously production in wells that were considered as in decline.  Over time as gas is re-injected into these oil fields, oil recovery yield should increase.

The dehydration skid has a series of valves and a thyristor fired heater on board for the regeneration of the absorption beds.

Based on a strong history of project alliance with our customer, ARA was engaged to construct, program and commission the electrical works associated with the dehydration skid.

The process was installed into a zone 1 hazardous area, requiring selection and installation of suitably certified equipment associated with the project.

The control system consists of an Allen Bradley SLC 5/05 PLC with 100 I/O points and 2 PID loops.  The SCADA system utilised was Intellution’s Fix 32, networked with the PLC via ethernet. ARA supplied site commissioning engineers to commission the dehydration skid including process fine tuning and PID control loop tuning.
